چکیده
A case of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia with Wolff-ParkinsonWhite syndrome in an Indonesian neonate born in the Departement of Obste trics, Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital, Bandung, is reported. Tachycardia in the neonate was first noted at the iige of 6 days, but the heart rale gradually decreased in 8 hours after oxygen was administered. Electrocardiographic exa mination revealed a Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. A second ¡attack of tachycardia occurred at the age of 2 months and the infant was immediately hospitalized and treated with lanoxin. Serial electrocardiographic examination still revealed the same syndrome. The management and prognosis of supraven tricular tachycardia in the neonate is also discussed. Two patients with a history of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia but no evidence of the Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome in the conventional electrocardiograms were studied utilizing atrial and ventricular extrastimuli. The evidence obtained in these patients was consistent with a concealed Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. In one patient,, ventricular extrastimuli revealed three different re...

Sixty-two infants and children with the Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW) were under long-term follow-up at The New York Hospital over a 20-year period. Twenty had associated congenital heart disease. In 29 infants and 6 children in hospitalfor paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, digitalis relieved the episodes in all but one instance and prevented further recurrences in all but 4. One ...
متن کاملWPW Syndrome: Intricacies of Anesthetic Management in Cesarean Delivery
The Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome is one of the major causes of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia during pregnancy. Both incidence and symptoms of PSVT are exacerbated during pregnancy and may significantly affect maternal and fetal outcomes during caesarean delivery. We outline the anesthetic management of a patient with WPW syndrome undergoing caesarean delivery.

The classic features of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome developed in a 49 year old man after he was given the heart of a donor who had had a normal electrocardiogram. The recipient showed type A pre-excitation on the surface electrocardiogram and clinically important paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. An electrophysiological study showed a left sided accessory pathway and dissociation betw...

Electrophysiological studies were performed in five patients, two with the three without Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome. In the former patients group, the paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) was concluded to reflect the circus movement utilizing the normal atrioventricular (A-V) conduction system for antegrade conduction and the Kent bundle for the retrograde conduction. Ventri...
